      It is an ES model. Feel free to contact Honda with the reg number to confirm. The black inserts came on the refreshed 2009 onwards models with the larger tyres

    Thanks for that! Cured the issue with my honda HRV 1.6 diesel. I literally pop it in 3rd, drive forward with clutch very near the top. Drop the clutch again and repeat and with being a slight downward driveway I don’t even have to rev/slip the clutch and then it’s smooth as silk as I pull away in 1st! 👍

    Excellent review, and by the way I completely agree with you. Automotive journalists don’t get these cars. I purchased a used RL, for my winter car and love it ,it runs like a top and the seats are the most comfortable I’ve ever been in any car. I also have an RLX which has a much more modern and luxurious interior which I also absolutely love. When I bought the RL I was also considering the Lexus to compare but couldn’t find one for sale so bought the RL ( I’m in Canada) and haven’t regretted it.

    Thanks for your information, I just purchased a 2008 Civic with iShift but it was a close decision to buy a 2009 Automatic model. The lower tax snd better fuel economy won me over. However many say Honda scrapped the iShift due to reliability problems (which I hope is rubbish)

    Cheap to maintain, reliable engines. Took it to long trips 1300+ km without issues with the seats and my back. Large boot that has more space then some premium european cars. R18Z4 engine is the last naturally aspirated from it's kind from Honda and it will easily reach 300.000km without issues which could not be said for many other car makers out there.

    Lovely comparo! I just wanted to say that this sort of large luxury sedan isn't exclusively an old man's choice - I'd say I'm a young guy, and even I'm interested by the Legend, cross shopping between that, a few smaller hatchbacks and sedans and a Volvo V70 to buy in the next 18 months. The idea of having something that has a good sound system, something quiet and something that's not gonna be a pain in my derrier, but that can still be a good bit of fun on a b-road. Cheers :D

    With diesel you need to change the gear in my opinion around 3000 or more in town, because this kind of engine get clocked,dpf filter problem plus egr valve same. All the diesel have this problem inside town. On motorway it is a different story and it ok to change around 2000. Conclusion is , if you want a car only for town this is not ok because of dpf filter, buy petrol and never have problem, otherwise for motorway it is fine😊. One more thing on this diesel engines it is also a problem after a while the lambda O2 sensor's fail and they are so expensive to change. I know few people who have this kind of car and they had this problem but after high mileage around 150k.

    Hello I’m not a car mechanic only an enthusiast but I read somewhere that using synthetic engine oil opposed to non synthetic can effect gaskets and car seals negatively ,I took apart a MK3 2007 Honda CRV Clutch slave cylinder a moment ago and noticed that the rubber bung around the bottom of the cup on top of the small spring looked thicker or swollen next to a slightly newer part of the same model and it’s my opinion that it’s this rubber bung that’s swollen due to the wrong clutch fluid used that’s getting stuck and not moving fluidly back through the cylinder after pressure release and thus not pushing the pedal back up so anyway I got this newer clutch slave cylinder from a car metal salvage yard and saved a lot of money i haven’t tested the car as yet because I’m not sure how bleed the clutch with it completely empty which is why I’m also writing this tutorial…did I need to fill up the clutch slave cylinder before install? Or will gravity do that work or? Thanks for reading

    Hiya was wondering i live in the UK, havent had my own car since 2016, been renting out cars but id like to get my own car, used, would it be ok if i bought a honda civic 10th gen car at around 50k-70k mileage with the SR trim ? ive heard about the oil dilution problems, but im not sure if its ok for me to get that car with 50-70k mileage - it will probably be a honda civic 1.6 I-DTEC SR (diesel) or 1.5 VTEC Turbo SR (petrol) - UK versions of the car. thanks if u respond. Last time I driven when i had my own car was when I had the ep3 and i had that for a good 5 years but in this current age the oil dilution sort of put me off with the 10th gen model, im not wanting a brand new car, just used car.

    • @tommyzoo
      @tommyzoo Месяц назад

      the oil dilution issue seemed more common in much colder countries than ours, so personally I wouldn't be concerned at all. The dtec engine is very tough indeed so no real issues there at all. Also I see plenty of 1.5 Turbo engines with very high mileages that are still performing very well

    You finally got one in then! Pity there wasn't one around with you guys when I was looking for my 2.2 iDTEC. The one I got was not quite as described at 53k miles but I agree, the engine is great, it was in need of a good service and the thermostat was stuck open. Not as powerful as my old 2.2 iCTDi but that was remapped. This one will be getting remapped soon. One thing I had to do was modify the brake pedal as there was a bracket on it that kept catching on the top of my shoes. I've removed this and no issues with car control. One thing I did note, the brakes on this 2.2 model are a massive improvement over the old one. The heater controls are more fiddly compared to the 8th gen Civic.

    • @tommyzoo
      @tommyzoo Месяц назад

      even though these are more powerful they do not feel as quick as the old cdti engined civics. The gearing is noticeably longer that adds to that sensation too. But the brakes are miles better and the interior materials are much improved too as is the compliance in the ride quality

    • @mickl8212
      @mickl8212 Месяц назад

      @@tommyzoo yes I agree on all points. It's definitely getting a remap as nigh on 300ftlbs of torque and 195bhp on my old Civic is a big drop to the new one I have. The engine on this is very smooth though.

    I’m looking at purchasing one of these as my next car, I’ve watched a few of your videos on them and with it being a Honda you know it will be reliable especially because it’s a pre turbo era for the petrol that is. Based on the engines that being 1.8 & 1.6 which would you say is the best?

    • @tommyzoo
      @tommyzoo Месяц назад

      The 1.8 with decent servicing is pretty much bomb proof. The 1.6 diesel, likewise but bear in mind the 1.6 is a turbo engine albeit we don't really touch them

    I totally agree with the video appraisal of this car. I have owned a 2.4 exec auto model for 16 years, and it has been a fantastic car. Powerful and smooth to drive, with all the features that you are hard pressed to find in a car today. Like electric sunroof, electric front seats, comfortable all real leather seats and interior. I have been looking around for a car to replace it, but a similar bmw or merc would cost a fortune, and still be unreliable. So I am going to keep my car. I'll spend a bit on new wheels, brake disks and exhaust, and save myself 30 grand.

    Car looks lovely and i wish i bought something like that especially from a reputable dealer like yourself. I bought my first car in 2022, a 2011 Honda Jazz CVT, from a private seller but he was a dealer as it turned out but not a registered dealer, anyways he didn't let me test drive the car in peace, he put a lot of pressure on me and it was my first time buying a car so i felt overwhelmed and i ended up buying the car. I eventually realised the car has a bad CVT, the transmission makes a whining or bearing noise and it is means the whole trans needs to be replaced if i could find one which i cant at a reasonable price. I am now stuck with a car with a bad transmission, after being fooled by unscrupulous guy who sold it to me, now i can't sell the jazz for anything more than £2000 either because i wish to be honest with whoever i make a deal with, I've lost thousands of £ in value as a result. I just wish i bought a car like from yourself instead.... 😢 It was my first car and i am devastated by it and since he isn't a proper dealer i can't get my money back. I'm going to get rid of the Jazz in the future and get a Lexus IS or GS from a reputable dealer but I'm genuinely so upset

    • @tommyzoo

And the dashboard was strangely futuristic and classic at the same time, making it look like a great place to be. The drivetrain tech is fascinating. And Honda manual gearboxes are indeed among the best ever. This particular car looks like a very good example.

    • @nigel.w
      @nigel.w 21 день назад

       @tonyedwards892 The main problem is that the battery can eventually degrade and fail, and there can also be problems with the hybrid system. As with all modern cars, the systems are complicated and expensive to repair. You are right to question this as the cars have reached an age where issues can and do arise more frequently. I haven't had to deal with hybrid system problems or replace a battery myself, but my understanding is that there are now several third party specialists that can replace/repair the battery for considerably less than the manufacturer, and just as good. On the Lexus forums I've seen a certain company recommended by several people. Do a search for hybrid battery solutions and give them a call. I assume they can also quote for the Honda, but if not I'm sure they can point you in the right direction. As for hybrid system problems, I would envisage repairs could be in the thousands, buy maybe not always. However, while it is common to read of people having battery issues, I haven't read about people having problems with the hybrid system itself, but that doesn't mean it doesn't or can't happen.
